2001-2002                               Redevelopment of Panaji Municipal Market

Client: Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation, Goa, India     

The project involves redevelopment of an existing large municipal market in a congested part of Panaji. The site has a strong context of the Goa Medical College complex next to it, which is of historical value. The site-planning component of the project involves traffic realignment, parking strategies and so on, whereas the architectural component involves the detailed design for 13000 sq.m. of retail space housing various sections like vegetables, fish-meat, general stores, cloth-garments etc. The project cost is approximately Rs.11 crores.

As an Architect and Urban Designer, he was responsible for site analysis, issue identification, development of area program, design concepts, detailed design and preparation of drawings and project reports.

2001 – 2002                            Redevelopment of Goa Medical College Site as Commercial & Family Entertainment Destination for Goa State

Client: Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation, Goa   

The project involves the redevelopment of approximately 10 acres of prime real estate land along the main promenade, Bandodkar Marg, in Panaji. The site additionally contains a heritage building, which will be conserved and restored sensitively. The project is also expected to generate surplus funds for relocation / renovation of other government facilities. Amongst the options being examined are the creation of an ‘entertainment district’, which will incorporate varied retail, theater & recreational facilities, for both locals and tourists. The present phase is for Project Preparation, which will be followed by Implementation Phase.

As an Architect and Urban Designer, he was responsible for micro & macro level design issues and preparation as well as presentation of drawings.

 

2000                                        Land Development along Mumbai – Pune Expressway

                                                Client: Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation, India

MSRDC has proposed to develop certain key land parcels in its possession along the Mumbai-Pune Expressway in a profitable and environmentally sensitive manner. The scope of work involves consultancy services for commercialisation and development of these valuable parcels at six locations between Panvel and Lonavala. The main components of the consultancy services are Corridor Planning under which, each of the site is analysed for planning constrains market potential, marketable land development options and a land-use plan and design guidelines for the Expressway corridor identifying the proposed land development use for each site.

As Project Manager, he was responsible for drawing and design for master planning for various sites. Responsibilities also include coordinating with the client and various other associate agencies.

 

2001                                        Greater Karu Urban Area, Nasarawara State, Nigeria

                                                Client: Nasarawa State Government

Following an earlier appointment to carry out a feasibility and preliminary planning exercise, Pell Frischmann was appointed to carry out the preparation of a full master plan for this new major town in Nasarawa State, immediately adjacent to Abuja, the new Federal Capital of Nigeria.  The study area covers some 400 km2 incorporating an existing low grade township of approximately 500,000 people and has a projected population of 2,000,000.

As an Urban Designer, his responsibilities included issue identification, evolving masterplanning concepts, related research & developing drawings. Also responsible for Pilot area detailed design for a 2 km x 0.5 km part of the overall masterplan.

 

09/2001 – 2002                                   Vikas Dilawari, Conservation Architect, MUMBAI

On a project basis assisted the team for ‘Ballard Estate: a heritage precinct’ from the above office and students from Academy of Architecture; a MMRDA project involving detailed listing of buildings in the Ballard Estate Area of South Mumbai. His responsibilities included updating surveys, photo-documentation, urban design guidelines and preparation of project reports.

Very large, low-rise apartment aimed at high-end clients in Nashik, measuring 2500 sq. mts. for Thakkar Builders.
